BBC Breakfast: Jon Kay and Sally Nugent join revamped line-up

The latest news, sport, business and weather from the BBC's Breakfast team.

Carol Kirkwood née MacKellaig (born 29 May 1962) is a Scottish weather presenter trained by the Met Office and employed by the BBC on BBC Breakfast. Jon Kay and Sally Nugent are joined by current presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt as well as three from the original line-up. He now broadcasts across a range of BBC outlets including BBC One, BBC News, BBC World News, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 4 and 5 Live.

The BBC has announced that Jon Kay and Sally Nugent will join the revamped BBC Breakfast line-up from Monday, October 5.

The pair will replace Dan Walker, who is leaving the show after six years to join Channel 5 News.

Kay and Nugent will be joined by current presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt, as well as three from the original line-up: Bill Turnbull, Sian Williams and Louise Minchin.

The move is part of a wider shake-up of the BBC's morning news output, which will see Breakfast extended by 30 minutes to 9am.

BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani said: "I'm delighted to welcome Jon and Sally to the Breakfast team. They are both hugely experienced and talented broadcasters, and I know they will be a great addition to the show.

"I would also like to thank Dan for his immense contribution to Breakfast over the past six years. He has been a brilliant presenter and a great colleague, and I wish him all the best for the future."
